Food
All your senses like food
by Anne G., Orono
Food is a great thing because it’s necessary to live, be healthy, and it’s a pleasure. We need food to survive so we can have energy to do the things we like. Also, food causes great pleasure to all. In fact, it causes obesity because people like it so much. Food is wonderful.
In modern days, people are eating because they are bored—not hungry. Food is good because it brings people together because you make it together. Food can taste bad. Make sure there is not poison or anything bad in it. Food can be unhealthy. It’s important to have a balanced meal. It’s a good idea to have different colors of food (naturally). “Healthy food is good for you,” Lexi O. said. Even if you can’t taste food, it is still good for you. If you can’t see it, you can smell it! All your senses like food!

Giant Bowls of Pasta
by Noah L., Centennial Middle School
I am Italian so we have big dinners with all of my family. Pasta is my favorite food. My family makes giant bowls full of pasta and meat balls. We usually eat dinners like that after big sports games and for birthdays and holidays. My Grandma and Grandpa live in Superior, WI, and they drive all the way down all the time to cook the giant Italian pasta dinners.
I eat a lot of food! I participate in a lot of sports so I am always eating, trying to get protein in my body after workouts, games and practice. My favorite food to eat after a practice is tacos or pizza.

A Food synopsis
by Cassie S., Centennial Middle School
Food. We all need it. Some are plain Janes and will order a “plain hotdog, please; just ketchup”. Some are adventurous and might try something new like squid or fried crocodile. I, myself, will try almost anything. I love spicy foods especially.
The greatest thing about food is the variety. There’s something for everyone. There are Mexican, spicy foods. There are Asian rices and spices. There is American fast food, there are European pastries. And the drinks! There is juice, milk, water, coffee, tea, pop, sweet tea (which we all know is more sugary than tea), and many more. When we think of countries, we immediately think of their food. Britain: Tea! U.S.A.: Fries! France: Pastries! Mexico : Tacos! China: Rice! Italy: Pasta! See?
Chocolate. Nearly everyone loves it no matter what they say. There are so many kinds! Simple chocolate, chocolate desserts, fancy chocolates, and so many more! First off, simple chocolate is sometimes the best. We all know what I’m talking about, right? A Hershey’s bar, or a Dove’s chocolate. Those creamy little guilty pleasures were just made to make your day. Next up are chocolate desserts.
And finally, in conclusion, what many people will agree with me on, the best things about food is that everyone can make it, and there is no end to the possibilities of things you can cook.

Searching for Easter (Cadbury) eggs
by Zoe F., Lincoln Center Elementary
In a recent interview with twin brother authors, Bly and Rowan Pope, I asked if they have any Easter food traditions. “No, not really traditions, but I like those Cadbury Cream Eggs!” Rowan giggles. They also said they have an Easter dinner with their mother, with turkey and mashed potatoes. They also said they like chocolate and sweets. I interviewed a fellow peer, and she said, “Candy is a standard. And chocolate, lots of chocolate!” she smiles. Hopefully you will have a great Easter, too.
